New Believers
What is the Gospel?
The word gospel literally means “good news” the gospel is the good news concerning Christ and the way of salvation. But to understand why it’s the good news you need to start with 'bad news'.
As a human race we are sinful inherently due to our fallen nature. Because of our sin, we cannot draw near to God because he is Holy and cannot behold sin. The good news is that God gave us an escape from that! A way for us to be reconciled back to Him through his beloved son Jesus Christ! (John 3:16) Isn't that amazing?!
4 Things You Must Be Aware Of As A Christian
You understand your nature - this is to mean your sinfulness, depravity (Romans 3:21-23)
You acknowledge that you cannot save yourself! (Ephesians 2:8)
When you believe that Jesus died on the cross for us, you, then you're off to a good start (Romans 10:9)
When you show a definite confession of faith, followed with action and accept Jesus as your Lord and saviour of your life (Colossians 1:15-20) then you are saved
Some Further Key Aspects That You Should Know
Know that you are forgiven - your past mistakes are not held against you when you come to Christ! The slate has been wiped clean and forgotten. You have been justified in God's eyes and made right with God due to the death of Jesus on the Cross!
Pray - it is important to spend time in prayer every day. Prayer is commune with God; it is where you and God can converse, and you can bare your soul to Him. Prayer also strengthens your Spirit as it affirms your belief and faith in God.
